Eagles have held a special place in the cultures of many civilizations because of their impressive size and beauty. Used to symbolize royal power, from ancient Egypt to the Roman and Napoleonic empires, eagles have appeared on coins, standards, and weaponry.

The near-threatened Harpy Eagle is one of the world's largest birds. These raptors (or birds of prey) are only found in the Central and South American rainforests. They are one of the 600 species of birds that inhabit Yasuni National Park.
Harpy Eagles are powerful raptors; they are able to pluck monkeys right out of tree tops. Besides primates, this voracious carnivore feeds on other birds, sloths, opossums, large reptiles, and large rodents. Their hunting skills can be attributed in part to their impressive anatomy. Harpies have talons as long as grizzly bear claws (5 inches) and their wingspan is near in length to the height of an NBA basketball player (6-and-a-half feet). They can fly at speeds above 50 mph. Females weigh 14-18 lbs. and are larger than their male counterparts, which weigh 10-14 lbs. Harpies' bodies are almost 3 feet long.

Harpy pairs mate for life and establish nests in high trees or cliffs (above 130 ft). Females lay 1-2 eggs that have an incubation period of 53-56 days. Usually only one offspring survives, and both sexes care for the young.

Harpy Eagles are in danger of becoming extinct due to habitat fragmentation, habitat destruction, and hunting. The proposed oil road into Yasuní National Park will fragment their habitat and could have a dire effect on the Harpy Eagles' already tenuous population.

Cameras vs. video cameras

cameras and video cameras have helped us capture our happiest moments, and they both help us to remember those big moments that we share with our love ones.

cameras and video cameras are very useful and easy to carry anywhere, also they can be charge easily for couple hours so you can lately use them in a freely and comfortble way.

The differences between the camera and video camera is that with cameras you can only take pictures and you can decided if you kepp it or if you erase it , on the other way with video cameras you can record the whole moment.

also you can se it detail by detail and remember it like it happened.

I think that both of them have improve our lives, because thanks to technology we are able to remember different kind of moments in our lives .

So from my point of view they are very useful and helpful in so many ways.

Halloween (or Hallowe’en) is a holiday celebrated on October 31. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating,ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o'-lanterns,reading scary stories, and watching horror movies. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is celebrated in several countries of the Western world, most commonly in the United States,Canada,Ireland,Puerto Rico, Japan, the United Kingdom, and at times in parts of Australia and New Zealand.

Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain from the Old Irish samain). The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes regarded as the "Celtic New Year." Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient Celtic pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the living and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.

History of name
The term Halloween is shortened from All Hallows' Even (both "even" and "eve" are abbreviations of "evening," but "Halloween" gets its "n" from "even") as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day," which is now also known as All Saints' Day. It was a day of religious festivities in various northern European Pagan traditions, until Popes Gregory III and Gregory IV moved the old Christian feast of All Saints' Day from May 13 (which had itself been the date of a pagan holiday, the Feast of the Lemures) to November 1. In the ninth century, the Church measured the day as starting at sunset, in accordance with the Florentine calendar. Although All Saints' Day is now considered to occur one day after Halloween, the two holidays were, at that time, celebrated on the same day. Liturgically, the Church traditionally celebrated that day as the Vigil of All Saints, and, until 1970, a day of fasting as well. Like other vigils, it was celebrated on the previous day if it fell on a Sunday, although secular celebrations of the holiday remained on the 31st. The Vigil was suppressed in 1955, but was later restored in the post-Vatican II calendar.

The litle of the history is " The Monster" by Henry Frankenstein.

Characteres: Dr. henry frankenstein, elizabeth, victor, the monster and fritz.

The character that I found most interenting was Dr. henry Frankenstein because of his obsession of giving life to a dead human body.

the central problem was tehe opposition of the people around Henry because they were against the experiment.

they didn`t resolve the problem because Henry at the end he created a monster.

yes I recommend this book because is very interesting and talks about life and dead.

DANCE ARTS

The art of dance is one of the most beautiful arts that there are in all over the world, dance can be defined as a sequence of rhythmic steps or movements performed to music, for pleasure or as a form of social interaction. Here we have some of the kinds of dance that exist.

Folk dance refers to dances developed by groups or communities, as opposed to being made up by a choreographer.

Latin dance is a fast-paced, often sensual, partner dance characterized by sexy hip movements.

Modern dance is a dance style that rejects many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing instead on the expression of inner feelings.

Swing dance is a lively dance style in which couples swing, spin and jump together.

Ballet Lithe, flexible, graceful, elegant, poised---if you’re not all of those then it’s time to say farewell to your tutu. In ballet, each movement is an expression of a specific emotion so it must be executed precisely and without flaw.

A LESSON IN CARING

1.- IN WHAT WAY DO YOU THINK THE AUTHOR AND HIS DAUGHTER BENEFITED FROM THE VISITS?

In my opinion the author and his daughter benefited from the visits, because right now they can see poverty from a different angle and that permits them to interact with people who can make them better persons in many ways with good feelings and I also think that people who do this kind of jobs, their lives change for a better and sooner or later they are rewarded.

2.- WHAT DO YOU THINK MOTIVATED THE AUTHOR TO BEGIN DOING VOLUNTEER WORK?

From my point of view the author got motivated, because he saw that his daughter was interested in helping needly people and that makes her daughter feel happy and excited.

3.- WOULD YOU CONSIDER THE AUTHOR A HERO? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Definitely I consider the author a hero, bacause to me a hero is a pearson who has the courage to be kind to people at any situation, and the author had the opportunity to either stay at home or make the difference by giving others unforgettable moments.

MICHAEL JORDAN

His impact is far greater than awards and championships. He burst into the league as a rookie sensation scoring in droves with an unmatchable first step and acrobatic drives and dunks and concluded his career as a cultural icon. Along the way, he became a true champion who spearheaded the globalization of the NBA with his dynamic on court abilities and personal sense of style that was marketed to the masses.

He was an accessible star who managed to maintain an air of mystique. He was visible as "Air Jordan," as part of a sneaker advertising campaign and endorsing other products as well as the star of the movie, Space Jam. However, he would vanish into retirement twice only to return until hanging up the sneakers for the last time after the 2002-03 season.

Although Brooklyn born, Jordan was bred in the more tranquil North Carolina. The son of Delores and James Jordan, he shared a special bond with his father, which included baseball being both of their first love. However, following his older brother, Larry, whom he idolized and was a spectacular athlete in his own right, Jordan began to play basketball.

At the turn of the 21st century, ESPN, the preeminent all-sports network, conducted an expansive survey of media members, athletes and others associated with the sports world to rank the 20th century's greatest athletes. Jordan topped the list above Babe Ruth and Muhammad Ali -- substantiating his link to those earlier cultural icons.
